A major administrative adjustment has taken place in Oyo State following Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision to appoint Professor Musibau Adetunji Babatunde as the new Secretary to the State Government. His emergence in the role marks a transition in one of the state’s most influential administrative positions.
The announcement, communicated through the governor’s media aide, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, confirmed that Professor Olanike Adeyemo has been relieved of her responsibilities as SSG. The leadership change is part of a broader effort by the administration to reposition its governance structure and improve operational efficiency.
Beyond the change in the SSG office, Governor Makinde introduced adjustments affecting other strategic roles within the cabinet. One notable move involves Temilolu Seun Ashamu, who has been reassigned from overseeing environmental matters to now supervise fiscal planning and economic coordination in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
Further reinforcing his team, the governor nominated Ademola Aderinto as a commissioner-designate. He will undergo legislative screening at the Oyo State House of Assembly before formally assuming office. This step is in line with constitutional requirements for new executive appointments.
The restructuring also includes the appointment of Abiodun Adedoja to advise on energy-related matters, while Kolawole Elijah Akanmu has been assigned to provide support on fiscal planning initiatives. These additions reflect the administration’s focus on strengthening both economic management and infrastructure planning.
In a separate political development outside Oyo State, Benibo Anabraba, who serves as Secretary to the Government in Rivers State, has formally ended his membership with the Peoples Democratic Party. His resignation, conveyed through a letter addressed to his ward leadership in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, was described as a personal decision.
Anabraba also acknowledged the role the party played in his political journey, expressing appreciation for the opportunities and experience he gained while serving under its platform. His departure adds to ongoing political shifts occurring across various states.
