Mariam Adeyemi Timmer, one of the stars of The Real Housewives of Lagos, has opened up about the health challenges she faced while filming the reality series.

In an interview, Mariam revealed that thyroid problems and undergoing IVF treatment took a heavy toll on her both physically and emotionally. She explained that the stress of her fertility journey affected her mood during filming, leading to reactions on-screen that many viewers did not understand were linked to her private struggles.

Mariam described the confusion and frustration she experienced upon discovering her thyroid condition, especially since she had previously battled fibroids and maintained a healthy lifestyle. She said that dealing with both issues simultaneously made that period particularly difficult.

Before joining the reality show, Mariam studied political science, worked in public relations, and became a mother. She joined Real Housewives of Lagos in the first season from episode four, striving to remain authentic throughout her time on camera.

She also addressed the broader pressures many women face when dealing with fertility or health challenges. Mariam explained that she chose to speak publicly because many women stay silent due to fear or cultural expectations, even though they are experiencing similar struggles.

Despite the challenges, Mariam said she still hopes to have another child but is no longer putting herself under intense pressure.
