Nollywood star Mercy Johnson-Okojie has officially dropped all legal charges against TikTok creator Eedie Bliss, resulting in her release from police detention on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Eedie Bliss regained her freedom after spending several days in custody, a situation that sparked widespread criticism and intense backlash across social media.

According to Gossip News Now , Mercy Johnson’s decision to end the case came shortly after outspoken commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, accused the actress of using her influence unfairly and misapplying police authority.

VeryDarkMan argued that the allegations made by Eedie Bliss amounted to defamation — a civil issue — and not a criminal offence that should involve arrest or detention.

He joined many Nigerians in demanding the TikToker’s immediate release, issuing a public ultimatum and warning that holding her in custody could further harm Mercy Johnson’s public reputation.

Following his intervention, VeryDarkMan confirmed Eedie Bliss’s release through a post on Instagram, expressing appreciation to the actress for stepping back from the case.

He wrote:
“@MercyJohnsonOkojie, thank you very much, my GREATEST OF ALL TIME, for dropping the case. Moving on, I am buying all defamation cases against Mercy Johnson and her family. The bullying is too much. You all should leave her family alone.”

Gossip News Now previously reported that Eedie Bliss had been arrested days earlier over a TikTok video posted in December 2025 in which she made claims involving Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.

In the video, she alleged that Prince Okojie bought a house for a pregnant woman she described as his mistress.
Citing popular blog Cutie Juls as her source, she further accused Mercy Johnson of collaborating with the woman’s house help in a way that led to a miscarriage — allegations that triggered outrage and legal action.

While many Nigerians expressed relief over her release, others continued to raise concerns about the increasing use of law enforcement to address online defamation disputes.

As of press time, Mercy Johnson and her legal representatives have not issued an official public statement regarding the withdrawn charges.
