The father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has urged the Lagos State government to initiate criminal proceedings against individuals indicted in the circumstances surrounding his son’s death.

In a letter dated October 3, 2025, and addressed to the Lagos State Attorney General through his legal team, Joseph Aloba demanded that charges be filed against his daughter-in-law Omowunmi (Wunmi), the auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, Ibrahim Owodunni (aka Prime Boy), and others mentioned in the coroner’s verdict.

Background of the Case

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, after reportedly receiving an injection administered by nurse Ogedengbe. He was buried the following day. However, following public outcry and police investigations, his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy.

In May 2024, the autopsy results revealed that the cause of death could not be determined due to body decomposition.

By July 2025, coroner Magistrate Taofikat Adeayo Shotobi, who presided over the inquest, indicted Ogedengbe for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence, while faulting Wunmi for negligence in seeking medical attention. The coroner also highlighted the roles of Prime Boy and others present at the time of the incident.

Father’s Demand for Justice

Joseph Aloba expressed concern that nearly three months after the coroner’s judgment, no prosecutorial action had been taken.

His lawyers stated:

“Our client, as a bereaved father, is deeply concerned that despite the clear indictments in the coroner’s verdict, no steps have been taken to prosecute those responsible since July 11, 2025.”

The letter further emphasized that the judicial findings amounted to indictments warranting criminal prosecution to ensure justice is served.

14-Day Ultimatum

Aloba has given the Attorney General 14 days to either:

  1. File charges against the indicted individuals, or
  2. Grant him and his legal team a fiat (special authorization) to prosecute the case on behalf of the state.

The letter listed the indicted individuals as follows:

  • Miss Feyisayo Ogedengbe – indicted for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence.
  • Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba (Wunmi) – indicted for negligence.
  • Ibrahim Owodunni (Prime Boy) and others – cited for facilitating the involvement of the auxiliary nurse or delaying urgent medical care.

“We request that you exercise your prosecutorial power within 14 days, given the high sensitivity of this matter and the public outcry it continues to generate,” the letter concluded.
