A Special Adviser to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, identified as Sunusi Kwankwaso, has officially resigned from his appointment following his principal’s departure from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

According to reports, Sunusi made the announcement on Friday through a recorded video message that was shared on Facebook by his media aide, Saifullahi Alhassan.

In the video, Sunusi revealed that Governor Yusuf was preparing to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a development he said influenced his decision to step aside. He, however, reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and his commitment to the Kwankwasiyya political movement.

Sunusi explained that he had earlier composed a formal resignation letter and attempted to submit it through the appropriate government channels, but his efforts were unsuccessful.

He further stated that the same letter was sent to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, where it was equally declined.

Speaking in the video, he said, “Once I confirmed that the governor had exited the NNPP and was expected to align with the APC, I immediately tendered my resignation, but it was not accepted.

“This public announcement is to formally inform everyone that I have stepped down from my role as a political adviser. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve and the collaborative efforts we shared over the past two years.

“I remain fully committed to Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasiyya movement. My allegiance is to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and I have no plans whatsoever to join the APC.”
