Brazilian football superstar Neymar may soon see his fortune soar even higher after reports revealed that he has been named the beneficiary of a jaw-dropping £846 million inheritance.

According to Brazilian outlet RIC, the fortune comes from a billionaire businessman who recently passed away in Porto Alegre. The man reportedly formalized his will on June 12, 2025, in the presence of witnesses and a substitute notary. The document has since been submitted to the courts, which must determine if Neymar can legally be recognized as the sole heir.

What makes the story even more extraordinary is that Neymar never actually met the benefactor. The billionaire, who was single and childless, is said to have admired the footballer’s strong family ties, especially his close relationship with his father, Neymar Sr.

“I like Neymar, I identify with him a lot,” the will reportedly states. “He’s not self-serving, which is rare these days. His connection with his father reminds me of the bond I had with mine, who has also passed away.”

The inheritance, valued at approximately 6.2 billion Brazilian Real (£846m), is believed to include real estate, investments, and company shares. Even so, legal experts caution that the process could face hurdles such as taxes, disputes, or lengthy delays before Neymar gains full access.

Already among the world’s wealthiest athletes, Neymar has yet to comment on the reports. Forbes estimates that the 33-year-old earned £90.7m in 2024 during his time at Saudi club Al-Hilal, ranking him behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi among football’s top earners.

In 2025, Neymar made a high-profile return to Santos, the club where he began his professional career, scoring three goals in 14 matches. His focus now is on staying fit as he prepares to represent Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.

Should the inheritance be confirmed, Neymar would not only strengthen his position as a global football icon but also secure his place among the wealthiest sports personalities in history.
