Reality TV star and media personality Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged Nigerians to stop blaming President Bola Tinubu alone for the country’s problems while ignoring the responsibilities of other elected leaders.
In a viral video shared on Monday, Tacha addressed the recent ₦2.2 trillion disbursement by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to federal, state, and local governments. She emphasized that while funds are being released regularly, they are often mismanaged by leaders at different levels.
Tacha expressed frustration that Nigerians consistently hold only the president accountable while governors, senators, and local government chairmen escape scrutiny — despite having direct control over large sums of public funds meant for development projects.
“₦44 billion — I didn’t say million, ₦44 billion — has been disbursed to a local government chairman. Watch how they’ll do absolutely nothing with it, because they know Nigerians will only come out to drag Tinubu and the presidency,” she said.
The former Big Brother Naija star noted that many citizens don’t even know who their local government chairman is, yet they expect the president alone to fix every national challenge.
Tacha urged Nigerians to broaden their civic engagement and hold governors, lawmakers, and council chairmen accountable for their performance, arguing that real change will only come when every officeholder faces consistent public pressure.
“Money has been given to your state governors, money has been given to your local government chairman, your House of Reps members, your senators. Hold them by their neck — let them deliver. If you start dragging these people individually, we’ll see that Nigeria will change.”
The August 2025 FAAC meeting shared a record ₦2.2 trillion among the three tiers of government — one of the highest allocations in recent years — prompting renewed calls for transparency and accountability in public spending.
