Former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been suspended by Norwegian club Molde FK after being formally charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

In a statement on Friday, the Eliteserien side confirmed that the matter was initially reported to police in late April 2025. Daga has now been charged with committing a sexual act without consent, an offence under Section 297 of the Norwegian Penal Code.

Legal proceedings are scheduled to begin in March 2026 at the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court.

Molde FK stated that both the club and the player have fully cooperated with Norwegian authorities since the investigation began. Following the indictment, Daga has been suspended from all training sessions and matchday activities until further notice.

A source at Daga’s former Nigerian club also confirmed the development, according to the Punch.

Prior to his suspension, the 20-year-old last featured for Molde on November 24 in a 2-1 away victory over Strømsgodset. He made 15 appearances for the club this season across all competitions, scoring twice in the league.

Daga joined Molde in January from FC ONE Rocket on a three-year contract. Internationally, he represented Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in October, marking his second appearance at the tournament. Nigeria were eliminated in the round of 16 after a 4-0 defeat to Argentina.

The case is ongoing, and no verdict has yet been delivered.
