Katsina United have been directed to play all their remaining home fixtures in Ilorin following a new mandate issued by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Thursday.
Under the fresh directive, the Rashidi Yekini Stadium in Ilorin becomes the club’s temporary home ground for the rest of the season. This marks the second relocation in recent weeks, after the Chanji Boys were initially moved to the New Jos Stadium due to crowd disturbances during a home match against Barau FC.
With the new venue confirmed, Katsina United will face Enyimba this weekend in their matchday 14 clash. The team heads into the fixture seeking redemption after a 2–0 defeat to Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kotangora Stadium in Minna—a result that left them 13th on the league table with 17 points as the season enters a decisive stage.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars assistant coach, Sulaiman Folarin, has commended his players for securing a hard-fought 1–0 win over Kano Pillars on Wednesday at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
A first-half strike from Victor Mbaoma sealed the victory, offering the Sky Blue Stars a strong response following their home loss to Rangers.
Folarin described the win as vital for the team’s morale. “It was a good game for us after losing at home in our last match against Rangers,” he told Remo Stars media. “The boys fought hard to get the victory. Overall, it was a solid performance.
“Yes, we missed several scoring opportunities, but defensively we looked better, and we’ll continue working to improve our finishing before the next match.”
Remo Stars will host Barau FC in Abeokuta this weekend as they look to build on their midweek momentum in the NPFL.
