Ikorodu City’s technical adviser, Bright Ozebagbe, has expressed concern over his team’s defensive lapses despite a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Plateau United.
Joseph Arumala and Alade Balogun scored for Ikorodu City, while Wisdom Ndom pulled one back for Plateau United. Ozebagbe, however, was unhappy with the goal his side conceded, blaming a momentary lapse in concentration.
“I’m disappointed that we didn’t keep a clean sheet against Plateau United,” Ozebagbe said in a statement to the club’s media team. “We worked on defending throws close to the box, but the players switched off at that moment and the goal came in. I am not happy with it.”
The victory lifts Ikorodu City to the top of the NPFL table.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa United’s technical adviser, Meremu Okara, praised his players’ determination following a 2-1 win over Abia Warriors at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa. Chinedu Emmanuel scored both goals for Bayelsa, while Sunday Megwo netted for Abia Warriors.
Okara emphasised the team’s commitment and resilience. “This victory was achieved through hard work and determination,” he said. “We have been in the danger zone on the league table, but this win will push us into the top half. Our recent performances show we are moving in the right direction.”
The result takes Bayelsa United to 10th place with 18 points.
Nasarawa United, meanwhile, will look to bounce back after a 1-1 draw with Kun Khalifat FC in Owerri, a result that saw them drop to second on the table. The Solid Miners are preparing for a crucial home clash against El-Kanemi Warriors at Lafia City Stadium this weekend.
Technical adviser Mbwas Mangut stressed the importance of improvement ahead of the next game. “We need to work hard and smart to face El-Kanemi Warriors at home and pick up maximum points,” he said, recalling Nasarawa United’s 4-3 defeat to the same opponents in their previous encounter.
