A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and prominent member of the Obidient Movement, Dickson Iroegbu, has expressed confidence that a political partnership between former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, could significantly alter the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Iroegbu made the remarks on Friday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he emphasized that a combined ticket featuring Obi and Kwankwaso would pose a serious challenge to the ruling establishment.

According to him, if Peter Obi emerges as the presidential candidate with Kwankwaso as his running mate, the development would create considerable political tension within the corridors of power.

“Considering the experience Kwankwaso has gathered, if he comes to the realization that an alliance with Peter Obi is necessary, both of them can deliver a powerful statement in 2027.

“An Obi presidency with Kwankwaso as Vice President would certainly make those in the Presidential Villa very uncomfortable,” Iroegbu stated.

Meanwhile, public affairs commentator, Jide Ojo, has suggested that Peter Obi might exit the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections if he fails to secure the party’s presidential ticket.

Speaking on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Ojo projected that Obi could lose the ADC ticket to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, especially if the party adopts the indirect primary system.

Ojo further predicted that if Obi is unable to clinch the party’s nomination, the former Anambra State governor may consider defecting to another political platform in order to pursue his presidential ambition.
