Popular Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, known as Oladips, has shed light on the real reason behind his encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The rapper was arrested in November 2024 alongside several other individuals during a late-night raid.
In a recent interview on Hip TV, Oladips explained that although EFCC officials found no evidence linking him to fraud, he was detained for allegedly failing to pay tax.
Narrating the incident, he said the operatives stormed his estate in the early hours of the morning and forcefully entered his home.
“It was just a normal night and EFCC entered my estate… around 3am,” he recalled.
“I saw the message in the estate group chat and I didn’t panic because I don’t do fraud. I was on my bed pressing my phone. Next thing, they broke my kitchen door and came in. They collected my phones and checked everything. When they didn’t find anything, one of their bosses asked if I pay tax — and that’s how they locked me up for not paying tax.”
Oladips emphasized that he remained calm during the raid because he had nothing to hide, stating that only those involved in fraudulent activities would attempt to flee.
His experience adds to ongoing public conversations about EFCC operations and the treatment of individuals during raids.
