The Presidency has dismissed concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s health following a brief stumble during his state visit to Ankara, Türkiye, on Tuesday.
The incident occurred while President Tinubu was accompanying Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for a ceremonial inspection, during which he momentarily lost his balance after stepping on a metal object.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, described the event as minor and exaggerated by mischief-makers.
“The President stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance. This is not a big deal, except for those who want to make mischief out of a fleeting incident. It was a mere stumble, thank God, not a fall,” Onanuga said in a statement.
He reassured Nigerians that President Tinubu remains fit and fully engaged in his official duties, including high-level bilateral meetings with Turkish officials.
Onanuga urged the public to ignore sensational interpretations of the incident, emphasising that the President’s agenda in Türkiye is proceeding smoothly.
According to Gossip News Now , the Presidency noted that the visit is aimed at strengthening Nigeria-Türkiye relations, with both leaders expected to sign several memoranda of understanding covering sectors such as trade, investment, energy, and defence.
