More than 300 young gymnasts are expected to participate in the second edition of the Gymfest Gymnastics Championship, set to take place on November 1 in Lagos.

According to Gossip News Now, the eagerly awaited event will feature athletes from pre-level 1 to level 7, highlighting Nigeria’s emerging gymnastics talent and inspiring the next generation of athletes — some as young as three years old.

Organisers noted that this year’s edition goes beyond competition, serving as a platform to promote discipline, teamwork, and national unity among young gymnasts.

The championship will also bring together coaches, parents, sports administrators, and enthusiasts to explore how gymnastics can contribute to youth development and strengthen Nigeria’s sporting culture.

Co-convener Sarah Boulos described Gymfest as a long-term initiative aimed at raising the standard of gymnastics in Nigeria.

“Gymfest is not just a competition but a movement to improve the standard of gymnastics in Nigeria and nurture young talents into world-class athletes,” she said.

Boulos added that the project focuses on sustainability and youth development, emphasizing the importance of parental support in grooming successful athletes.

“We are building a sustainable pathway for gymnastics in Nigeria — one that inspires confidence, encourages participation, and raises the next generation of champions,” she explained.

“Gymnastics provides a great foundation for all sports, helping children develop agility, discipline, and confidence that translate into all areas of life.”

Program Director Yoyin Akpose also highlighted that Gymfest is more than a competition — it’s a community-building event.

“Gymfest brings together parents, coaches, enthusiasts, and supporters to celebrate and promote the growth of gymnastics in Nigeria,” she said, noting that beyond medals, the event is nurturing a strong network dedicated to seeing Nigeria excel on the global stage.
