The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ologunagba, has dismissed claims of internal war within the opposition party, insisting that the PDP remains solid and united.
Clarification on Party Unity
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Ologunagba explained that disagreements within the PDP should not be mistaken for conflict. Instead, he described them as part of the natural process of democracy.
“I am not fighting any war in PDP because there’s no war in the party. PDP is solid, PDP is together.
Do we have people who disagree? Yes, we do. That is the beauty of democracy,” he said.
The Role of Disagreement in Democracy
According to him, the PDP thrives on contestations of ideas, with members bringing different perspectives and experiences. He stressed that such clashes are healthy and well-managed through the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.
“Because we are truly a democratic party, we have contestation of ideas and people come with different backgrounds and views. There will be clashes, but the capacity of the PDP that makes it truly democratic is inbuilt in our constitution,” Ologunagba noted.
