‘Politics Has Officially Begun’ — Wike Signals Start of Political Mobilisation

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that political activities have formally kicked off, stating that the moment is right to begin grassroots mobilisation ahead of upcoming elections.

According to reports, Wike made the declaration on Friday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, during the inauguration of Senatorial District and Local Government Area coordinators of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

Speaking before supporters at the gathering, the former Rivers State governor described the unveiling of the Renewed Hope structure as a clear indication that active political engagement had begun in the state.

Wike expressed appreciation to party leaders and coordinators at various levels, stressing that genuine support goes beyond words and must be demonstrated through action.

He praised supporters for remaining steadfast despite not having a sitting governor on their side, noting that their loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflected strong commitment. According to him, their determination to work tirelessly toward the President’s re-election in 2027 was evident.

Highlighting their sacrifices, Wike acknowledged that supporters had relied on limited resources, yet still contributed meaningfully to the President’s success. He added that President Tinubu was aware of their efforts and was observing those who were truly dedicated to the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

Commending their selflessness, Wike pointed out that supporters had mobilised vehicles and logistics without demanding financial inducements, emphasising that commitment—not money—was the driving force behind their actions.

He cautioned that their visible dedication might attract envy or criticism but urged them to remain focused and unwavering in their support for the President.

Reiterating an earlier statement made during a thanksgiving event, Wike reminded supporters that he had announced January as the start of political engagement, declaring that the moment had now arrived.
