Manchester City survived a late scare to claim a dramatic 3-2 victory over Leeds United at the Etihad, with Phil Foden’s brace proving decisive.
City raced out of the blocks, with Foden opening the scoring just 59 seconds in, before doubling the lead before the half-hour mark. Despite a resilient Leeds comeback, City held on, moving to second place, four points behind Arsenal. Leeds suffered their sixth defeat in seven Premier League matches.
Brentford 3-1 Burnley
A late brace from Igor Thiago helped Brentford secure a 3-1 win over Burnley at the Brentford Community Stadium.
The match remained scoreless until the 81st minute when Thiago converted a penalty after Axel Tuanzebe fouled Dango Ouattara. Burnley responded immediately through Zian Flemming, only for Thiago to strike again moments later from close range. Ouattara sealed the points in stoppage time.
Brentford dominated most of the game, creating multiple chances, and the victory lifts them to eighth place with 19 points from 13 matches. Burnley, meanwhile, remain second from bottom on 10 points.
Sunderland 3-2 Bournemouth
Sunderland staged a thrilling comeback to beat Bournemouth 3-2 at the Stadium of Light, overturning a two-goal deficit in challenging weather conditions.
Bournemouth took an early lead through Amine Adli and then Tyler Adams’ audacious lob from inside the centre circle. Sunderland began their fightback when Enzo Le Fée scored from the penalty spot, followed by Bertrand Traoré’s strike seconds into the second half to level the game.
The decisive moment came in the 69th minute when substitute Brian Brobbey headed home from a Le Fée corner. Bournemouth hit the crossbar late on, and a stoppage-time red card for Lewis Cook sealed Sunderland’s dramatic victory. The win lifts Sunderland to fourth place, ending a three-game winless run.
