Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has been taken to court over allegations of cyber harassment, blackmail, and invasion of privacy, according to a petition filed by the legal representatives of a woman identified as Jane Doe.
The petition, submitted by Bristol & Mortglass C.S., claims that their client suffered emotional trauma and continuous online harassment after rejecting Blaqbonez’s romantic advances in December 2024.
The lawyers alleged that the rapper unlawfully obtained and circulated a private video belonging to the woman without her consent, leading to months of humiliation, intimidation, and defamation on social media.
Despite multiple warnings and requests to cease the alleged harassment, the firm said Blaqbonez ignored all communications, prompting the woman to seek police intervention.
According to the petition, the rapper’s actions violated several Nigerian laws, including:
- The Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act 2015,
- The Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015, and
- The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
The firm also revealed that another law firm, TIA Solicitors, had previously issued formal letters to Blaqbonez in December 2024 and January 2025, demanding the deletion of private materials, a public apology, and ₦200 million in damages.
However, the lawyers claim that even after the notices were delivered to his residence twice, the harassment persisted.
As of press time, Blaqbonez and his management team have not responded publicly to the allegations.
