Rivers Crisis: Fayose Says Tinubu Won’t Sacrifice Wike For Fubara

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, remains politically more valuable to President Bola Tinubu than Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

According to Gossip News Now , Fayose made the remark during an interview with Arise Television while discussing the ongoing power struggle between Wike and Fubara, which has continued to fuel instability in Rivers State politics.

Fayose noted that Wike’s significance stems from his performance as FCT minister and his ability to deliver electoral victories for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots level.

He added that amid the lingering political crisis in Rivers, Tinubu would not replace Wike for Fubara.

“But let me say this to Nigerians: the Asiwaju I know will not get rid of Wike for a Fubara. Wike came from Rivers to support President Tinubu,” Fayose said.

He continued: “Wike is performing excellently in Abuja—never before have we had it so good here. Even a blind man can see it. In Rivers, APC won local governments thanks to Wike. In the upcoming local government elections in Abuja, APC will still succeed because of him. So, what more could the President want from Wike?”

Commenting on Fubara’s reported trip to meet the President in France, Fayose suggested it reflected political arrogance.

“If Governor Fubara went to meet the President, it shows he needs help. When you refuse to humble yourself and seek peace, you end up running helter-skelter. What he’s searching for is inside his own pocket,” he remarked.

On the internal challenges facing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fayose rejected claims that Tinubu was responsible for the party’s struggles.

“The problems in the PDP are not Asiwaju’s fault. Failure in my home is not my neighbour’s responsibility. The PDP created its own insurrection. It is a house divided against itself, and in politics, it’s survival of the fittest,” he added.
