Former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, has affirmed that the people of the state firmly support Governor Siminalayi Fubara despite the ongoing political tensions.
His statement comes in response to the renewed clash between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, according to reports from Naija News.
Speaking during an event held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Odili reassured the governor that Rivers residents remain solidly behind him and encouraged him to remain steadfast in the face of the current crisis.
Odili further emphasized that the people of the state fully recognize Fubara as the political head of Rivers State.
He said, “Your people are behind you, and they have asked me to remind you that you are the political leader of Rivers State.
Where you go, they will follow. Where you stand, they will stand with you. You are standing on solid ground—remain firm and hold on to God.”
In a related development, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday advised Governor Fubara to avoid escalating his feud with Wike.
During an interview with Arise Television, Fayose cautioned that seeking peace would yield better results than allowing the conflict to intensify.
He warned the Rivers governor to proceed with caution, pointing out that political disputes often come with significant consequences.
Fayose also reminded Fubara that he cannot override or diminish the authority of the Rivers State House of Assembly, regardless of any ongoing disagreements, stressing that the legislature remains an essential and independent arm of government.
