Nigerian comedian Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Sabinus or Mr Funny, has confirmed the end of his marriage to his UK-based wife, Ciana Chapman.

Sabinus and Ciana reportedly tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2023. By 2024, rumours of marital issues began circulating, with allegations that Sabinus was involved in domestic disputes, infidelity, and was absent in raising their daughter.

During a TikTok live session with fellow comedian Carter Efe, Sabinus clarified that the marriage is over and emphasized that it ended peacefully. He reassured fans that he and his daughter’s mother remain on good terms:

“I’m not married. For those carrying rumours, I am not married. My marriage ended peacefully. The mum and I are good. My daughter is okay, and she is doing fine.”

Sabinus Opens Up About His Comedy Journey

In a separate interview with media personality VJ Adams, Sabinus revealed that his father was initially unhappy with his decision to pursue comedy. His father had wanted him to become a lawyer, but after failing to gain admission to law school, Sabinus studied Linguistics and Communication instead.

It was during his time at the University of Port Harcourt that he discovered his talent for comedy and started creating skits. Initially, his father regretted funding his education and dismissed comedy as a “stupid business.”

Over time, however, his father’s opinion changed after seeing Sabinus succeed in comedy and begin supporting him financially from his earnings.
