Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to his teammates following the backlash over his explosive interview, in which he criticised the club and manager Arne Slot.
Jones spoke about the aftermath of Salah’s comments, which accused Liverpool of “throwing him under the bus” and claimed he lacked a positive relationship with the manager. The remarks drew widespread debate among fans and pundits and reportedly created tension within the squad, leading to Salah’s initial omission from the matchday lineup.
The Egyptian forward was later recalled and featured in Liverpool’s victory over Brighton, signalling that efforts had been made behind the scenes to restore harmony in the team.
Jones provided insight into the dressing-room response, saying Salah took responsibility for the impact of his words on his teammates.
“Mo is his own man, and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like, ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologise’. That is the man that he is.”
The midfielder added that Salah’s conduct within the squad remained professional and positive despite the controversy.
“I can only speak from my knowing Mo and how he is with us and how he acted on that. He was positive as well,” Jones said.
Gossip News Now reports that Salah is currently away with the Egyptian national team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, while Liverpool continues their domestic campaign without him.
Jones’ comments suggest that the issue has largely been resolved internally, easing concerns over a potential rift within the squad.
