The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has announced the suspension of three national officers, including its National Chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, over allegations of misconduct, financial misappropriation, fraudulent activities, and gross abuse of office.
As reported by Gossip News Now, the party also suspended Nnadi Clarkson, the National Auditor, and Chukwuma Uchechukwu, the National Youth Leader.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the SDP National Publicity Secretary, Araba Aiyenigba, who explained that the decision followed a resolution by the National Working Committee (NWC) during its meeting held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
According to Aiyenigba, the suspension was carried out in line with the provisions of the SDP Constitution (2022, as amended) and based on a prima facie case established against the affected officers.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in exercise of its constitutional powers under Articles 19.1, 19.3(01), and 19.5, has placed the following officers on suspension for alleged misconduct, financial misappropriation, malfeasance, fraudulent activities, and gross abuse of office,” the statement read.
The suspended officers include:
- Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam – Former National Chairman
- Mr. Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu – Former National Youth Leader
- Mr. Clarkson Nnadi – Former National Auditor
The statement noted that the decision followed the adoption of the Disciplinary Committee’s report and a White Paper reviewing the findings and recommendations concerning the allegations.
During the same meeting, the NWC also discussed internal security issues within the party and reviewed incidents involving disloyal members who allegedly broke into the SDP National Secretariat in July 2025.
“The committee’s findings revealed that several nonconforming members, including Messrs Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Abubakar Dogara, Nuraddeen Bisalla, Solsuema Osaro, Ambo Ekpeyong, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu, unlawfully gained entry into the National Secretariat at night,” the statement added.
The intruders were reportedly arrested and detained by security operatives after being caught with sensitive party documents and valuables, and are currently facing prosecution in court.
The SDP reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing discipline and accountability, vowing to implement all recommendations from the disciplinary report to restore integrity, order, and internal cohesion within the party.
