A neighbour of the late Nollywood star Allwell Ademola has given a touching account of the actress’s final hours.
Gossip News Now earlier reported that the actress passed away after a brief illness, leaving many colleagues and fans devastated.
In a recent conversation on Nollywood actress Abiola Adebayo’s YouTube podcast, the neighbour—who chose to remain anonymous—explained that it took more than 30 minutes for Allwell to answer her door because she was finding it difficult to get dressed.
The neighbour added that if Allwell had known her condition was that serious, she would not have worried about them breaking down the door to reach her.
She explained that when Allwell finally managed to open the door, it took about five to six people to help her into a car due to her weakness. She said residents around Pipeline, the area where Allwell lived, immediately sensed something was wrong because of the urgency of the moment.
In her words:
“It took over 30 minutes. I kept calling out, ‘Actress, please open the door.’ I think she was struggling to put on her gown. She never imagined it would turn out this way. If she knew, she wouldn’t have minded us breaking the door. She was trying to cover herself. We really tried. About five or six of us helped lift her into the car.”
She continued, explaining how she ended up driving:
“They once asked her what she would do in an emergency, and she always said she had good neighbours. The person meant to drive was too nervous, so I told him to help open the gate while I drove. I drove much faster than I normally would. I still don’t know where the strength came from.”
The neighbour said the tension was so obvious that even other residents in the Pipeline area knew something was terribly wrong.
“It still feels unreal to me. When I see her things around, I ask myself, ‘Is this really true?’”
