Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has fired a sharp response to a social media user who mocked his public commendation of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officers.
During the festive season, Dakolo took to 𝕏 to applaud the traffic officers for their dedication, highlighting their tireless efforts throughout December. “@followlasma officers, una wehdone… these guys have been working round the clock this December,” he posted, praising their commitment.
The message, however, drew criticism from a user who dismissed the recognition, comparing it to “clapping for a fish for swimming,” implying that Dakolo’s praise was unnecessary.
Unwilling to let the comment slide, Dakolo shot back, emphasizing the importance of appreciating people who put in hard work. “Shut up your stupid mouth. Do you work round the clock? Do you know how hard it is? Applaud people when they do an amazing job,” he retorted, underscoring that recognition is due where effort is exceptional.
In a separate matter, Dakolo has also stirred controversy involving President Bola Tinubu’s aide, O’tega Ogra. The singer claimed he was not compensated for a completed job and publicly called on the aide to respond. “Mr @otegaogra, please pick your calls. I did my job,” Dakolo wrote on 𝕏.
Ogra replied by stating he had noted Dakolo’s messages but would not engage further publicly, asserting that his professional record is transparent and self-evident. He also cautioned that any attempts to personalise the issue could prompt formal correction and potential legal or professional actions.
