Nigerian skitmaker Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank Comics, has addressed the backlash after an old social media post praising American rapper Diddy resurfaced online.

In the post, Shank had commended Diddy’s “mindset” and his approach to the grind, noting that the music mogul “got lost in the pursuit of power.” The post sparked criticism due to Diddy’s recent criminal convictions.

Responding via his 𝕏 handle, Shank clarified that his earlier post was a “misguided attempt” at referencing a villain in a movie and was not meant to endorse or support Diddy in any way.

He admitted the post was irresponsible and emphasized that he does not admire, defend, or support Diddy, particularly in light of the serious allegations against him.

Shank wrote:

“To clarify any misunderstanding: My post about Diddy was a misguided attempt at referencing a villain in a ‘movie’ and it was irresponsible. To be absolutely clear, I do not admire, support, or defend him in any way.
The allegations against him are horrific, and he deserves every consequence that comes from them. What he’s been accused of (and convicted of) is unacceptable and has no place in our industry or anywhere else. Victims deserve justice. I’m committed to doing better and using my platform responsibly.”
