Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has set social media abuzz after sharing a cryptic Instagram post that many believe was directed at Victor Osimhen, sparking speculation of a possible rift within the national team.

The post came just days after Nigeria’s 4–0 victory over Benin Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, a match in which Osimhen stole the spotlight with a stunning hat-trick that sealed the Super Eagles’ place in the playoffs.

According to Gossip News Now, tensions appeared to simmer beneath the surface despite the emphatic win. Nwabali, who has faced criticism for inconsistent performances in recent outings, was visibly frustrated during the game and was seen clashing with teammates Wilfred Ndidi and Calvin Bassey.

At one point, cameras caught Nwabali shoving Ndidi after the midfielder attempted to calm him down following a scuffle with a Benin Republic player. Moments later, he was also spotted arguing heatedly with Bassey as the players headed into the tunnel at half-time.

Fueling speculation of internal discord, the Chippa United goalkeeper later posted on Instagram:

“I never fake care anyone. What I give, I give from my heart. Choose a good heart. People change so fast… I believe you VO9.”

The mention of “VO9,” Osimhen’s shirt number, immediately caught fans’ attention, with many interpreting it as a subtle message referencing the Napoli striker.

Nwabali has yet to address the meaning of his post, while Osimhen has remained silent on the issue, leaving the situation open to public interpretation.

The goalkeeper’s form has recently come under scrutiny, especially after a shaky performance in Nigeria’s 2–1 win over Lesotho, where fans called for him to be replaced. Despite the criticism, head coach Eric Chelle kept faith in Nwabali, starting him again against Benin Republic just four days later.

As of now, neither player nor the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has commented on the matter, but Nwabali’s post has certainly reignited discussions about team unity and dressing-room harmony within the Super Eagles camp.
