The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Egypt’s Pharaohs have announced their starting line-ups for today’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 third-place clash in Casablanca, with kick-off set for 5 p.m. Nigerian time.

Both teams have opted for a 4-3-3 formation as they aim to secure the bronze medal after falling short in the semi-finals.

Nigeria head coach Éric Chelle has named a balanced side combining defensive stability with attacking threat. Stanley Nwabali will start in goal, shielded by a back four comprising Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Igoh Ogbu, and Bruno Onyemaechi.

In midfield, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Raphael Onyedika will anchor play, while Samuel Chukwueze is given freedom to operate just behind the forwards. Up front, Moses Simon and Akor Adams will support Paul Onuachu in Nigeria’s push for a positive finish to the tournament.

Egypt have also selected a competitive line-up as they seek their first third-place finish since 1974. Oufa Shobeir starts in goal, with Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim, Rami Rabia, and Khaled Sobhi forming the defensive line.

The midfield trio of Ahmed Sayed, Mohanad Lasheen, and Emam Ashour will control the tempo and supply the attacking unit. Mohamed Trezeguet and Mohamed Salah are tasked with supporting striker Mostafa Mohamed at the top.

The third-place playoff pits two of Africa’s football powerhouses against each other following narrow semi-final exits. Nigeria fell to Morocco on penalties after a goalless draw, while Egypt were edged out by Senegal in a close contest.
