Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro has fired back at the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) after the three bodies jointly announced his suspension.
The guilds, in a statement released on Friday, sanctioned Arimoro over an on-set altercation involving his colleague, Peggy Ovire. The announcement, shared on social media by AGN President Emeka Rollas, stated that the decision was taken “out of responsibility, compassion, and the need to restore trust” within the industry.
According to the joint document dated November 27, 2025, disciplinary committee findings identified Arimoro as the primary aggressor during the incident. The report said he assaulted the production manager and the driver and later circulated a misleading live video that misrepresented the events—falsely implicating producer Peggy Ovire, who was not present when the initial altercation occurred.
The guilds consequently suspended Arimoro from all Nollywood productions until further notice.
As part of the conditions for reinstatement, Arimoro is required to publicly apologize to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director. He must also release a corrective video clarifying the true sequence of events. Additionally, he has been instructed to return to set to complete his remaining scenes under supervision and comply with all further directives from the guilds.
Reacting on Instagram, Arimoro questioned the credibility of the investigation that led to his suspension.
He wrote:
“Can someone please tell these ones to stop playing..? What was the basis of your investigation please..? Omo me, I think I’m in the mood for an IG live.”
