Actor Taye Arimoro has dismissed the suspension imposed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and Association of Movie Producers (AMP) following an alleged altercation with actress-producer Peggy Ovire on the set of Pieces of Love.

According to Gossip News Now, a letter from Arimoro’s lawyer, shared on Tuesday, highlighted several issues with the suspension. The letter stated that the guilds used the wrong name, listing him as Taiye Ayimoro instead of Taye Arimoro.

Arimoro also asserted that he is not a member of any of the three guilds, rendering their suspension decision legally invalid. He demanded:

  • Immediate withdrawal of the suspension
  • A written apology
  • A public statement

He warned that failure to comply within 24 hours would prompt a ₦1 billion lawsuit.

Details of the Set Dispute

The conflict reportedly occurred on November 11 during filming. Arimoro claimed that after completing his scenes, Peggy Ovire prevented him from leaving and insisted he stay for additional work. He alleged that he was held against his will and assaulted by her team, resulting in physical injuries, stress, and a broken tooth.

Peggy Ovire denied the accusations, with her lawyers asserting that Arimoro initiated the altercation, allegedly punching the production manager and her driver. They described his account as false and misleading.

Following investigations, the three guilds concluded that Arimoro was responsible for the incident, placing him on indefinite suspension, while instructing Peggy to apologize for taking the matter beyond the set.
