The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the South-South region, Emmanuel Ogidi, has expressed optimism that governors and key members who recently defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will eventually return.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, Ogidi dismissed fears of disunity within the PDP, describing it as an “organized and resilient party” capable of overcoming its internal challenges.

He also downplayed reports of plans to disrupt the party’s upcoming national convention, stating that the PDP’s structures remain firmly intact.

“There was a group that met in Abuja and issued some conditions to disrupt the convention, but PDP is an organized party for God’s sake. You can’t just come out and call yourself stakeholders,” Ogidi said.

According to him, the National Working Committee (NWC) and National Executive Committee (NEC) are fully in charge of preparations for the November convention, ensuring transparency and order.

Ogidi further accused the APC of “weaponizing hunger” to lure PDP members, claiming that many who left did so under pressure and would eventually retrace their steps.

“We all know why they are going, but we strongly believe they’ll come back,” he stated confidently.

The PDP chieftain also criticized some members, including governors and senators, for being impatient about the convention’s timeline.

“Some of them don’t have patience. The convention is just weeks away. Why are they panicking? Yes, we are in court, but that’s no reason to worry. If you’ve done the right thing, the court will give you justice,” Ogidi said.

He assured party members that due process was being followed and reiterated that the PDP National Convention would proceed as planned.
