Prominent activist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) member, Aisha Yesufu, has issued a public apology to former Executive Director of Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE), Yemi Adamolekun, following the controversial inclusion of her name in the party’s Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee without prior consent.

Gossip News Now recalls that the ADC on Wednesday unveiled a 50-member policy and manifesto committee, approved by its National Working Committee and National Chairman, Senator David Mark. The committee was established to develop a clear and credible policy framework that aligns with the aspirations of Nigerians and positions the ADC as a viable alternative for responsible leadership and national transformation.

Reacting to the announcement, Adamolekun, in a post on 𝕏, tagged both Yesufu and the party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, questioning why her name was listed without her approval. She stressed that such an action undermines credibility and clarified that she is not a member of the ADC.

In response, Abdullahi explained that membership of the committee was not restricted to party members or politicians. He added that a vetting process had been carried out and that the party had taken steps to ensure that those recommended for the committee were notified and had given their consent.

However, addressing the matter on Friday via her 𝕏 handle, Yesufu, who serves on the ADC’s Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee, acknowledged the oversight and apologised for the mix-up. She also extended her apology to other individuals whose names may have been published without prior notification or approval.

In her words, “Dear Yemi Adamolekun, this is inexcusable and, on behalf of my party, I sincerely apologise for this mix-up. We do not take you or your passion for a better Nigeria for granted. You should have been informed and your consent obtained before your name was made public. This has been duly noted, and we will ensure stricter diligence going forward.

“Thank you for drawing our attention to this. Constructive feedback helps us improve. The task of rebuilding Nigeria is enormous, and while our enthusiasm is high, we must always uphold due process. I also apologise to anyone whose name was published without proper consultation.”
