Tinubu Administration Disburses ₦2.45 Trillion to States FCT for Infrastructure and Security

The Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has released a total of ₦2.45 trillion to Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support infrastructure development and security-related projects nationwide.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, in a statement shared on his verified 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday. According to him, the funds were disbursed over a period spanning March 2024 to August 2025.

Bwala explained that the financial support is aimed at assisting state governments and the FCT in addressing critical needs, including the rehabilitation of roads and bridges, improvement of schools and healthcare facilities, and the enhancement of security operations across various communities for the overall benefit of Nigerians.

He further noted that such fiscal collaboration between federal and subnational governments is a common global practice. According to him, countries like the United States routinely allocate federal funds to states and local governments to enable them to deliver essential public services effectively.

The presidential aide added that similar funding models are also used in India and other advanced economies, where central governments provide grants to regions to support major infrastructure projects and essential services closer to citizens.

Bwala assured that the Tinubu administration remains committed to working closely with state governments to drive national development and improve the quality of life for Nigerians.

In his words, the support aligns with the objectives of President Tinubu’s 2025 Budget of Restoration, which prioritizes security, infrastructure, healthcare, and education. He stressed that the administration’s focus remains on ensuring transparency in fund utilisation, accelerating development in energy and transportation, creating employment opportunities, and raising living standards through sustained cooperation between the Federal Government and the states.
