Tinubu Holds the Key to Fubara’s Political Future Says APC Rivers Chapter

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emphasized that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s prospects for re-election are entirely in the hands of President Bola Tinubu and the party’s national leadership.

Chibike Ikenga, the state party’s Publicity Secretary, told Sunday PUNCH that Fubara’s switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC received approval at the highest level. He explained that all matters concerning the governor’s political future are determined by the national leadership.

“We allowed him to join the party; the President approved his membership, and as the leader, he controls the party. They know what he deserves, and once we receive directives from there, we will act accordingly,” Ikenga said.

Acknowledging the influence of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike in Fubara’s rise, Ikenga described any ongoing political disagreements as routine internal party matters that are addressed by the proper authorities.

He also rejected claims that Wike could play a role in APC’s selection of a Rivers State gubernatorial candidate, reminding critics that Wike is not a member of the APC and is not contesting for the governorship.
