Former APC National Chairman, Bisi Akande, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu is focused on safeguarding Nigeria’s resources from illegal foreign exploitation while prioritizing human capital development in science and technology.
Akande made the remarks in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, during a lecture titled ‘Governance, Structural Reforms and the Economic Landscape of Nigeria in the 21st Century’, delivered at the inaugural Joel Babatola Annual Lectures organized by the Ekiti Council of Elders.
He highlighted that Tinubu is committed to fortifying Nigeria against internal saboteurs and external neo-colonial interests.
“The president plans on strengthening Nigerian unity against indigenous retrogressive saboteurs and neo-colonialist grumblers, and extricating Nigerian resources from massive illegal foreign exploitations, perhaps at least pending the fury of threatened invasion from global powers and international municipalities,” Akande said.
The former APC chairman also noted that Tinubu’s agenda emphasizes rapid infrastructure development, particularly in transportation and electricity, through collaboration between the private sector and various government tiers. This, he added, is aimed at boosting agricultural and industrial processing and improving the movement of goods between urban and rural areas.
Akande’s comments come amid heightened tensions following threats by former US President Donald Trump, who had warned of military intervention in Nigeria over reports of Christian genocide in the northern regions, targeting Islamic terrorists accused of killing Christians.
