The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s repeated holiday trips, accusing his administration of displaying a lack of sensitivity toward the struggles of Nigerians.

Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said Tinubu’s frequent travels send the wrong signal during a period of severe national hardship.

Abdullahi compared Tinubu’s leadership approach with that of former President Goodluck Jonathan, noting that Jonathan never left the country whenever Nigeria was experiencing serious challenges.

He stressed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government is steering the country in the wrong direction, despite official denials and claims that the economy is improving.

Abdullahi highlighted the escalating hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians, saying the government continues to dismiss or downplay the true level of suffering.

According to him, “The level of hardship Nigerians are going through today is unprecedented, but even worse is the government’s refusal to acknowledge the reality most citizens are facing.

“Every independent record shows Nigeria is headed in the wrong direction, yet they keep insisting the economy is performing well.

“They keep telling people, even those struggling to eat, to hold on because things will soon improve. But we are now in the third year of this administration.”

He added that despite being in power for nearly three years, the APC continues to make promises as though it is still campaigning, instead of addressing worsening national problems.

Abdullahi further noted that what troubles Nigerians the most is the government’s apparent lack of empathy.

He said, “The insensitivity is shocking. There is little concern for what people are going through. This president continues to leave the country whenever he likes, even during periods of crisis.”

The ADC spokesman emphasized that former President Goodluck Jonathan remained in the country during difficult times and did not go on holiday while Nigerians were facing major threats.

“He didn’t abandon the country. He didn’t disappear when serious problems arose,” Abdullahi stated.
