Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has opened up about her early motherhood journey and why she stopped breastfeeding her newborn daughter just three weeks after birth.
Gossip News Now reports that the actress and talk show host welcomed her first child, Yakira Eliana, in August 2025 at the age of 40.
During an interaction with fans on Snapchat, Toke explained that she had to stop breastfeeding after her breast milk supply unexpectedly ceased three weeks postpartum.
When a fan asked, “Why aren’t you breastfeeding?”, Toke responded:
“’Cos my breast milk output stopped after 3 weeks. Any other question??”
Her revelation comes shortly after addressing online speculation about her baby’s father.
Toke, who has chosen to keep the identity of her child’s father private, recently dismissed a fan’s claim that he might be Muslim based on her daughter’s name, Yakira.
Responding to the comment, Toke clarified that Yakira is a Hebrew name, not an Islamic one, explaining its meaning as “beloved, precious, and someone of great worth.”
She wrote:
“He is not. Yakira is a Hebrew name. Beloved, precious and someone of great worth.”
