1. Governor Alex Otti Meets IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto Prison

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Sunday visited the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.

The visit was announced by Kanu’s special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, and his younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu, in separate Facebook posts.

In his statement, Ejimakor commended the governor for honouring his word, writing: “Thank you for fulfilling the promise you made to me to visit your brother, MAZI NNAMDI KANU. You are a man of your word and courage.”

He added that Otti’s visit could mark the beginning of efforts to end what he described as Kanu’s “undeserved ordeal.”

Emmanuel Kanu also lauded the governor’s gesture, describing it as symbolically significant. According to him, “Governor Alex Otti and the people of Sokoto have made a unified statement by visiting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”

2. ADC Rejects Ambassadorial List, Says Yakubu’s Nomination Undermines INEC’s Credibility

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s newly released list of ambassadorial nominees, describing it as insensitive, politically motivated, and lacking merit.

The party expressed particular concern over the nomination of former INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who supervised the 2023 election that produced Tinubu as president. The ADC argued that appointing Yakubu to an ambassadorial role reinforces public suspicion that he was not impartial during the election.

President Tinubu had on Saturday unveiled several new career and non-career ambassadors, including former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri, former Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former Ekiti First Lady Erelu Angela Adebayo, former Oyo First Lady Fatima Florence Ajimobi, and former Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said Yakubu’s inclusion “sends a dangerous message” at a time when INEC is still battling a crisis of public trust after the widely disputed 2023 elections.

The party urged Yakubu to decline the nomination and called on the Senate to reject his appointment, insisting that endorsing him for such a position could further erode national confidence in the electoral commission.

3. Kogi Government Confirms Attack on Ejiba Church, Launches Manhunt

The Kogi State Government on Sunday confirmed an armed attack on the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba and announced intensified surveillance and security operations in the area.

Gunmen reportedly invaded the church during the day’s worship service, abducting the pastor, his wife, and an undisclosed number of congregants.

Speaking on the incident, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, said:
“Yes, I have been briefed, and I can confirm that security agencies—working alongside local security formations—are already taking appropriate action.”

The state assured residents that efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators and secure the safe release of the victims.

4. Meta Takes Down Eedris Abdulkareem’s Instagram and Facebook Pages After ‘Open Letter to Trump’ Release

Nigerian rapper and activist, Eedris Abdulkareem, has revealed that both his Facebook and Instagram pages have been suspended by Meta.

According to him, the takedown occurred shortly after the release of his latest track, Open Letter to Donald Trump.

He disclosed on Sunday that he has been unable to access his accounts since the song dropped, and checks confirmed that the pages are no longer accessible.

Abdulkareem, known for his outspoken political commentary, did not specify whether Meta issued any prior notice or how long the suspension might last.

Released in November 2025 under Lakreem Entertainment, Open Letter to Donald Trump criticizes corruption, insecurity, and leadership failures in Nigeria. Though styled as a message to the U.S. president, the song heavily targets Nigerian political leaders.

In the track, Abdulkareem condemns the political class for living in comfort while ordinary citizens struggle, and he highlights the surge in kidnappings, killings, and other crimes fueling fear across the nation.

5. EPL: £125m Isak Breaks His Goal Drought as Liverpool Defeat West Ham 2–0

Liverpool finally returned to winning ways with a 2–0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, November 30, 2025, with record-signing Alexander Isak scoring his first Premier League goal for the club.

Isak, who arrived for a British-record £125 million, had faced mounting pressure after going five league games without a goal and scoring just once in 11 appearances in all competitions. He ended that dry spell on the hour mark with a calm, clinical finish to put Liverpool ahead.

Cody Gakpo added a second in stoppage time, sealing Liverpool’s first win in four matches.

Manager Arne Slot acknowledged the significance of the result, especially after a dismal run in which Liverpool lost nine of their previous 12 fixtures—including a heavy 4–1 defeat to PSV and consecutive 3–0 losses in the league.

6. Ten-Man Chelsea Battle to 1–1 Draw Against Arsenal After 57 Minutes a Man Down

Chelsea delivered a resilient performance at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, holding Arsenal to a 1–1 draw despite playing nearly an hour with ten men.

The turning point came in the 38th minute when Moises Caicedo was shown a red card, a decision upheld after a VAR review. With Arsenal pushing to extend their lead at the top of the table, Enzo Maresca’s side looked set for a long evening.

But the second half told a different story. Chelsea emerged energized and took a shock lead just three minutes after the restart. Trevoh Chalobah rose to meet Reece James’ corner, directing a precise header beyond the goalkeeper and sending Stamford Bridge roaring.

Arsenal, sluggish before halftime, grew into the game after Mikel Arteta introduced Martin Odegaard and Noni Madueke to spark creativity. The equalizer arrived in the 59th minute when Mikel Merino outjumped his marker to convert Bukayo Saka’s cross.

Despite dominating possession late on, Arsenal were unable to find a winner and were visibly frustrated at full time. Chelsea finished the weekend third on the table—six points behind league leaders Arsenal and one point adrift of Manchester City.

7. P-Square Dispute Deepens as EFCC Admits Lack of Evidence in Alleged $800,000 Fraud Case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has informed the Lagos High Court in Ikeja that it has no documentary or forensic proof to support allegations that Jude Okoye and his twin brother, Paul, illegally withdrew $800,000 belonging to the defunct music group, P-Square.

The allegations stem from a 2024 petition filed by Peter Okoye, who accused his brothers of diverting funds, secretly operating 47 undisclosed bank accounts, and altering the shareholding structure of Northside Entertainment Ltd.

Following Peter’s petition, the EFCC had filed financial misconduct charges against Jude Okoye regarding the management of the P-Square brand.

However, during cross-examination, EFCC counsel M.K. Bashir told Justice Rahman Oshodi that the agency could not present any evidence of the alleged $800,000 withdrawal.

When pressed by the court to substantiate the claims, Bashir replied, “We do not have it. It is his evidence. Let him prove it. I can’t give what I don’t have.”

He also confirmed that the commission had no documentation supporting the claim of 47 secret bank accounts, stating that it was merely a witness allegation with no available records.

8. Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price to ₦840 per Litre

The Dangote Refinery and several depot operators have again reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), bringing it down to ₦840 per litre.

The new rate reflects a slight drop from the previous ₦843 and follows a weekend decline in Brent crude prices, which fell to an average of $62 per barrel. The downward trend in global crude forced refiners and downstream operators to adjust their pricing structures.

Market checks confirmed that Dangote Refinery, AIPEC, and NIPCO all aligned their depot prices at ₦840 per litre. Other depots adopted varied rates: Rainoil at ₦844, Sigmund at ₦858, Master Energy at ₦858, and Northwest at ₦850 per litre.

Industry operators attributed these adjustments to the falling cost of crude oil, which directly influences refining and distribution expenses.

9. Atiku Accuses Tinubu of Diverting Public Funds to Benefit Allies

Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday accused President Bola Tinubu of overseeing what he described as one of Nigeria’s most blatant financial scandals.

Atiku’s remarks followed reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) allegedly spent ₦17.5 trillion within a single year on pipeline and energy security. According to him, this amount is nearly equal to what Nigeria spent on fuel subsidy over a 12-year span.

In a statement from his media office, Atiku argued that the comparison exposes massive waste and questionable motives:
“For context, Nigeria spent about ₦18 trillion on fuel subsidy across twelve years—a national programme that directly supported millions of Nigerians, stabilized transportation, and helped keep food prices in check.”

He alleged that under Tinubu, almost the same amount was spent in one year on “opaque pipeline security contracts linked to associates and cronies of the President,” describing the action as “robbing Nigerians to reward political loyalists.”

Atiku further accused the administration of deceit and double standards in its treatment of fuel subsidy policy, calling the expenditure “grand larceny disguised as governance.”

10. Presidency Fires Back at Obasanjo: ‘Terror Groups First Emerged Under Your Administration’

The Presidency on Sunday criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo, insisting that security lapses during his tenure contributed significantly to Nigeria’s current insecurity challenges.

In a statement signed by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the Presidency accused Obasanjo of attempting to portray the current administration as incapable of safeguarding Nigerians.

Dare argued that rather than attacking the government, Obasanjo should leverage his influence and international connections to support Nigeria’s security efforts.

Obasanjo had earlier commented on the rising security threats across the country, urging the Nigerian government to take decisive military action and seek international assistance to curb escalating violence. Speaking in Jos at the Plateau State Unity Christmas Carol and Praise Festival, he warned that an overly diplomatic approach to terrorism was a sign of weakness in the face of ongoing killings.

However, the Presidency dismissed Obasanjo’s remarks as “hypocritical and unbecoming,” faulting his call for external intervention as lacking in true statesmanship.

Dare stressed that the Tinubu administration is fully aware of the magnitude of the insurgency challenge and is employing a blend of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to confront it.
