US Court Sentences Sean “Diddy” Combs to 50 Months in Prison

A United States federal court on Friday sentenced hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs to 50 months in prison following his conviction on prostitution-related charges.

Prosecutors had pushed for an 11-year prison term, but Judge Arun Subramanian delivered a reduced sentence after a lengthy and emotional hearing in New York.

Prosecutors Push for Harsher Sentence

During sentencing, prosecutor Christy Slavik criticized Combs for failing to fully accept responsibility.

“This is not a person who has accepted responsibility. His remorse was qualified. It’s as though he thinks the law doesn’t apply to him,” Slavik said while arguing for an 11-year sentence.

She also revealed that Combs had already scheduled speaking engagements in Miami for the following week, calling it “the height of hubris.”

Defense Pleads for Leniency

Combs’s legal team urged the judge to impose a 14-month sentence, which would effectively equate to time served.

In his address to the court, the 55-year-old music icon expressed regret for his actions:

“I am scared to death to be away from my family. I promise I will never commit a crime again,” Combs told the judge.

Background of the Case

The ruling comes after two months of intense testimony. In July 2025, jurors acquitted Combs of the most serious charges — sex trafficking and racketeering — sparing him the possibility of a life sentence.

Nonetheless, the conviction on prostitution-related offenses left him facing significant prison time.

Family and Victim Impact

Combs’s mother and six children attended the sentencing, with several submitting letters of support to the court.

However, his former girlfriend Casandra Ventura wrote to the judge urging a tougher stance:

“Please consider the many lives that Sean Combs has upended with his abuse and control,” her letter read.

⚖️ With the 50-month sentence, Combs now faces more than four years behind bars, marking a dramatic fall for one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.
