Popular Nigerian vocalist Sola Allyson has shared personal insights about the path that eventually led her from an Islamic upbringing to embracing Christianity.

The singer explained that the contrast between the two environments—Islamic teachings in one home and Christian influence in another—gradually broadened her spiritual outlook.
Despite eventually identifying with Christianity, Allyson emphasized that she still respects her Islamic heritage. She noted that she has never hidden her birth name Rasheedat, which reflects her Muslim background.
According to her, discovering the meaning of that name as a young girl helped her develop pride in her roots and appreciation for where she came from.
Over time, Allyson said her understanding of faith grew through personal study, reading, and reflection. These experiences helped shape her perspective on spirituality beyond the boundaries of a single religious tradition.
She explained that, in her view, the most important aspect of faith is understanding one’s purpose and relationship with God rather than focusing solely on religious labels.
