Billionaire’s daughter, Temi Otedola, and her husband, singer Mr Eazi, have opened up about the challenges and pressures they faced while planning their weddings, explaining why they decided against having their court wedding in Nigeria.
Speaking on a podcast, the couple revealed that they organised three weddings across three different countries within three months, a process they described as exhausting and far more demanding than anticipated.
According to Temi, their initial plan was to have a simple court wedding in Nigeria. However, they quickly realised that maintaining privacy would be difficult, as the ceremony could easily attract public attention and media interest. This concern prompted them to rethink the plan.
They also considered having court officials conduct the civil ceremony privately in their living room. While Temi liked the idea, Mr Eazi was less comfortable with it, leading to differing opinions between the couple.
Other options were explored, including holding the court wedding in the United Kingdom, but Temi explained that the location did not feel personal enough for her.
Eventually, they settled on Monaco for their civil wedding, which Temi said felt more meaningful and fitting for them as a couple.
She further admitted that she initially underestimated the process, thinking marriage was simply about deciding and signing documents, only to later realise it involved extensive paperwork and coordination.
The couple later held a private wedding ceremony at Hallgrimskirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland.
“Three weddings in three months is insane. If we went to the courthouse in Nigeria, it wouldn’t be as private as we wanted,” Temi said.
“I thought getting married was just deciding and signing papers. I didn’t know there was a mountain of administration.”
