Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused a former minister under the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari of attempting to obstruct his progress during his time as Governor of Rivers State.

Speaking to members of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahoada East Local Government Area on Wednesday, Wike described the Buhari administration as a difficult period for him.

According to Wike, the unnamed former minister from Rivers State made deliberate efforts to derail his administration, but he and his team remained focused and continued delivering development projects.

He stated:
“When I was governor, the administration of our late President Muhammadu Buhari was like hell for me. A minister from this state tried everything possible to ensure we did not move forward. But by the grace of God, we stayed focused and achieved much more.”

Wike further explained that effective leadership requires more than awarding contracts; it involves understanding people, resolving conflicts, and navigating challenges.
“Anyone can award a contract. Governance is about building relationships, resolving issues, and knowing how to maneuver when problems arise,” he added.

While Wike did not mention the former minister by name, his comments were widely interpreted as a reference to Rotimi Amaechi, who served as Minister of Transportation under the Buhari administration.
