As preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called for sustained cooperation across party lines in Rivers State. He stressed that the state’s political direction now transcends traditional divides between the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.

During a visit to Ahoada West Local Government Area as part of a gratitude tour, Wike described Rivers’ evolving political structure as a unified movement rather than a battleground of rival parties. According to him, the state has embraced what he termed a broad-based family anchored on shared aspirations and collective responsibility.

He likened the current arrangement to a coalition built on inclusiveness, where stakeholders from various political backgrounds work toward common objectives. In his view, Rivers has demonstrated that unity of purpose can outweigh partisan competition when the focus shifts to development and stability.

Wike maintained that this cooperative spirit positions Rivers as a model for other states ahead of the next election cycle. He argued that the real strength of the state lies not in party labels but in the determination of its people to act together in pursuit of broader goals.

Reaffirming his political stance, the minister pledged continued support for the reelection bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He expressed confidence that Rivers would once again deliver strong backing, noting that the state has consistently demonstrated loyalty and resolve even during periods when doubts were raised about Tinubu’s political prospects.

Wike concluded by emphasizing that maintaining cross-party collaboration will be essential as 2027 draws nearer, adding that Rivers’ experience proves that political maturity and unity can coexist despite differences in affiliation.
