The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said persistent criticism directed at him is the result of his firm stance on honouring political agreements, describing himself as one of the most attacked politicians in the country.

Wike made the remarks on Saturday in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, during a meeting with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders from the local government.

The engagement formed part of activities marking an end-of-year thanksgiving service organised by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, in his hometown.

According to the former Rivers State governor, his insistence on sticking to agreements and ensuring his political supporters are not sidelined has made him a constant target of public criticism.

“After President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I am probably the most abused politician today,” Wike said.

“And why is that? It is because I believe that an agreement must be respected.”

He stressed that political commitments should only be made when there is genuine readiness to carry them out.

“If we agree on something, we must implement it. If it cannot be implemented, then there is no need to agree to it in the first place,” he stated.

Wike also reaffirmed his political camp’s continued support for President Tinubu, noting that it was a decision reached long ago and remains unchanged.

“Long before now, we agreed that we would continue to support President Tinubu. That was the position we took, and that is still the position we will maintain,” he added.
