Nigerian comedian and actor Woli Arole has criticized the popular saying, “I prefer to cry in a Lamborghini than smile in a Marwa,” calling it a “useless statement.”

Gossip News Now reports that the remark comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding the marital crisis between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko.

While some Nigerians have argued that it’s better to “cry in luxury,” others believe peace of mind is far more valuable than wealth.

Taking to his Instagram page, the UK-based entertainer condemned the mentality behind the saying, urging people to think critically before adopting such views.

“I prefer to cry in a Lamborghini than smile in a Marwa — it’s a useless statement ooo! Don’t say it with people ooo! Your cry in a Lambo can last a lifetime ooo! Think twice,” Woli Arole wrote.

Meanwhile, Catholic priest Fr. Kelvin Ugwu also weighed in on the controversy, claiming that the relationship between Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels was driven by greed rather than love.

In a post shared on social media, the clergyman argued that both parties entered the union for self-serving reasons — Nwoko seeking a young wife and Regina seeking financial comfort.

“They have no reason to complain now; they are simply reaping the fruits of their choices,” Ugwu stated, describing their relationship as a “contract where both got what they wanted, not a marriage.”
