Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has criticized Abuja-based pastor Femi Lazarus for a controversial comment he made regarding women and menstruation.

The Light Nation Church pastor faced backlash after a video circulated online showing him claiming that women’s mood swings during their periods are not biological but due to their attitude. In the clip, he said:

“You are not the first woman to see your period… your menstruation is not the problem. I have never seen anywhere in the Bible any woman complain about menstrual pain. You are simply not a peaceful person.”

The remark sparked outrage across social media, with many accusing him of dismissing women’s real physical and emotional struggles during their menstrual cycle.

Reacting via Instagram, Yvonne Jegede urged men to refrain from making statements about experiences they cannot relate to.

She wrote:
“Yesterday I saw a trending video of a clergyman seemingly trivializing menstrual pain. If you’ve never experienced the hormonal changes women go through during periods, ovulation and pregnancy, please don’t make bold statements about things you haven’t experienced. Men, please be kind.”

While many supported Yvonne’s stance, others argued the pastor’s message was being misinterpreted. One Instagram user, Angie Joseph, commented:

“He wasn’t trivializing menstrual pain. Kindly listen to the full sermon. My cramps are so bad I sometimes end up in the hospital, but that doesn’t make me a mannerless person.”

The debate continues online, with social media users divided over the pastor’s intent and the sensitivity of his remarks.
