A leading figure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), boldly declaring that “the opposition in Yobe State is dead.”
His defection was confirmed in a statement released by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor.
Gossip News Now reports that Yarin Fika made the announcement during a ceremony held in Damaturu, the state capital, explaining that Governor Mai Mala Buni’s developmental strides inspired his decision to join the ruling party.
“I was attracted to the APC by Governor Buni’s commitment to developing Yobe State,” he said.
He pledged his full support to the governor’s ongoing projects and promised to contribute to the growth and progress of the state.
In a confident statement, the former PDP stalwart revealed that his supporters across the Zone B senatorial district had also defected with him to the APC.
“Mark my words — PDP and any form of opposition in Yobe State is dead,” he declared.
Reacting to the development, Yobe APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, described the defection as a major boost for the party, assuring Yarin Fika of full inclusion and equal opportunity.
“We value this defection greatly. You will enjoy the same rights and opportunities as every member of the APC,” Gadaka stated.
Welcoming the new entrant, Governor Buni commended Yarin Fika for his decision, noting that his presence and that of his supporters would further strengthen the APC across Yobe State.
“Your membership carries the same weight as that of every other member of the party,” Buni said.
“This move will enhance the fortunes of the APC in Potiskum, Zone B, and across the entire state.”
