The embattled Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has issued a stern warning to party members, reminding them that betrayal and disloyalty always carry consequences.
Speaking on Thursday during a meeting with the Forum of State PDP Chairmen, Damagum cautioned those working against the party’s unity, urging them to retrace their steps and act in good faith.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on our colleagues that the devil is using to see wisdom in casting the devil in them because treachery, especially to an institution that has made you what you are today, will not heal,” Damagum said.
“You may be lucky now, but there is a law of karma — what goes around comes around. It is not too late to do justice to this party that has given you everything. Sometimes, when I resort to God’s ways, people see it as weakness. But we exist because God exists, and He will judge us by our behaviour. A word is enough for the wise.”
“PDP Is Alive And Strong” – Damagum
Damagum dismissed speculations that the PDP has lost its relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape, insisting that the opposition party remains a strong and influential force.
“People are saying the PDP is dead. But today, in Nigeria, every political story revolves around the PDP. You don’t talk about something that does not exist,” he said.
“This is proof that the PDP is alive, ready, and capable of navigating internal challenges while addressing the problems confronting the country.”
Warns Against Intimidation Of Opposition
The PDP leader also warned the federal government against intimidating or harassing opposition figures, stressing that no one holds power forever.
“This country belongs to all of us. We are law-abiding citizens, and we will continue to pursue our dreams within the law,” Damagum said.
“We will not be intimidated by anyone who feels that because God has given him an opportunity, he can act however he pleases. Such power is temporary, and eventually, everyone who does wrong will face the consequences.”
Damagum’s comments come amid growing internal tension within the PDP and renewed efforts to reposition the party ahead of future elections.
