APC Responds to Adebayo: Only Nigerians Can Demand Tinubu’s Resignation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed calls by former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo for President Bola Tinubu to resign over Nigeria’s security situation.

Gossip News Now reports that Adebayo had supported recent comments by former US President Donald Trump regarding killings in Nigeria, claiming the Federal Government had failed its constitutional duty to protect citizens.

He urged the President to “use his bullet to eliminate terrorists or use his pen to resign,” saying, “If your people are losing their lives in dozens, you have already failed the primary assignment of governance. The solution is that President Tinubu can use the bullet to kill the terrorists, or use his pen to resign.”

In response, APC Deputy National Organising Secretary Nze Chidi Duru told Punch that Adebayo’s remarks were a personal opinion and do not represent the will of Nigerians.

“It is his personal view, and he is entitled to it. The President received his mandate from the majority of Nigerians, and only the electorate has the authority to demand such a resignation,” Duru said.

He stressed, “For all intents and purposes, this is his opinion alone and does not reflect the majority of Nigerians.”

Duru further highlighted that the government is fully aware of the nation’s security challenges and is actively addressing them.

“It is important to reiterate that the administration recognizes the security issues facing Nigeria and is taking all necessary steps to tackle them. Instead of criticism, the government should be supported with relevant information to help combat insurgency effectively,” he added.

The APC official assured that ongoing measures to safeguard lives and property would become increasingly evident in the coming days and months.
