The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the expulsion of several prominent party figures, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, and Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal.
According to Gossip News Now , the faction also dissolved the PDP state executive committees in Oyo, Bauchi, Ekiti, Zamfara, Edo, and Lagos.
The decisions were reached during the faction’s 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.
Other members expelled include former Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Minister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, and several others, all accused of engaging in anti-party activities.
Presenting the memo for the expulsions, Acting National Chairman Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman said the affected members were removed for allegedly disregarding court orders and actions that brought the party into disrepute.
The meeting’s communiqué, read by National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, stated:
“The National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 18 November 2025 to address recent developments threatening the unity, stability, and constitutional order of our party. At a time when Nigerians look to the PDP for leadership, NEC convened to uphold truth, justice, discipline, and respect for the rule of law.”
NEC expressed concern that some party members violated existing court orders by organising and attending an “unauthorised convention,” which it said triggered confusion, factional divisions, and defections by governors and lawmakers nationwide.
The communiqué reaffirmed that the PDP’s legitimacy is rooted in adherence to its constitution and Nigeria’s constitution, not “acts of impunity.”
NEC approved disciplinary measures against top party leaders including:
Adolphus Wabara, Olabode George, Ben N. Obi, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), Bala Mohammed, Seyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, Taofiq Arapaja, Setonji Koshoedo, Okechukwu Obiechina Daniel, Woyengikuro Daniel, Mohammed Kadade Suleiman, Emmanuel Ogidi, Sumaila Adamu Burga, Umar Sani, Udom Emmanuel, and Emmanuel Enorden.
The NEC also ordered Chief Ali Odefa to refund all salaries and allowances collected since his expulsion on December 12, 2024, and ratified Hon. Chidiebere Egwu Goodluck as Acting National Vice Chairman (South East).
Additionally, the faction ratified the dissolution of state executive committees in Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, and Ekiti. The National Working Committee (NWC) was directed to set up caretaker committees and begin fresh congresses immediately. The Edo State Exco led by Barr. Nosa Ogieva was approved.
NEC further instructed that deputies in all NWC positions made vacant by expulsions should immediately assume those roles in an acting capacity.
NEC also officially confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman as the Acting National Chairman of the party.
It further directed the legal team and the NWC to immediately initiate constitutional processes to reclaim the seats of all elected officials who defected from the PDP, citing Sections 68(1)(g) and 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution.
NEC approved a comprehensive reconciliation effort across the party aimed at resolving internal rifts and rebuilding trust, while stressing that unity must not come at the expense of discipline. It also announced that a nationwide membership audit and revalidation exercise will commence in preparation for the 2027 elections.
While acknowledging the concerns among members, NEC assured party supporters that these resolutions are intended to stabilise and strengthen the PDP.
It reiterated that the period of indiscipline has come to an end, insisting that the party will not tolerate lawlessness or allow personal interests to override collective goals.
With renewed unity, discipline, and focus, the PDP expressed confidence in its ability to rebuild stronger and regain public trust ahead of the next election cycle.
